Job Description

At SPR, the Principal Architect is a key member of the leadership team. This individual is responsible for executing on daily tasks but also for motivating teams and pushing projects through to successful completion. He/she has an excellent foundation in technology but also has a keen sense of business and what it takes to move the organization forward.


The Advisory & Support Principal Architect will oversee and manage SharePoint and Microsoft Solution Development Advisory and Support engagements. SPR Consulting offers Advisory & Support (A&S) to our clients as a way to stay engaged with them on an ongoing basis.


Each A&S engagement requires three roles: A Principal Architect (PA), a technical resource and someone to manage the engagement. The role of the PA is key to our relationship with the client. It is this person's responsibility to provide the advisory portion of our offerings. The PA will make recommendations, keep the client informed of industry trends, help identify potential trouble areas in their environment, provide oversight and governance, provide planning and advice on upgrades and hold regularly scheduled presentation/discussion/strategy sessions on technical topics. In addition, the PA will also provide guidance to junior staff members.

Firm Development

  • Define and manage SPR standards and best practices around technical area of expertise
  • Understands and can articulate SPR solutions that are not part of core expertise
  • Identifies new or extended business opportunities and relays these opportunities through the organization
  • Maintains a social media presence that provides a positive impression of self and SPR
  • Actively engages with prospective clients and recruits to help build SPR Consulting
  • Contributes content for marketing efforts and other thought leadership pieces
  • Follows blogging strategy as outlined by leadership


Project/Task Management

  • Act as technical lead on client projects providing technical solutions and approaches
  • Client Management and interaction
  • Management of support tickets including validating estimates
  • Understands and meets project objectives and budget for projects
  • Helps ensure team meets objectives and stays within scope/budget
  • Fields and channels client feedback as it arises and is viewed as a trusted advisor on client projects

  • Lead and mentor associate developer resources
  • Works with consulting staff to help improve skills and enhance knowledge through 1:1 sessions, on the spot feedback, scheduled trainings and other means of development
  • Advise/Train Client
  • Respectfully listens and takes suggestions from teammates at all levels
  • Coaches consulting teach members and takes a collaborative approach to teamwork, pitching in where necessary


Business Acumen

  • Understands firm's overall strategy and can see how individual projects relate to company goals
  • Is able to identify solid leads and can help sales develop "teaching" approach
  • Participates in proposal development process and assist in estimating new projects where needed
  • Provides approach-related details for project proposals based on experience and expertise
  • Provide technical expertise on pre-sales calls

  • Minimum 5 years' experience implementing and administering Microsoft SharePoint Server
  • Degree level qualification desirable but suitable professional experience will be considered
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to show initiative with minimal direction
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and remain in sync with team plans
  • Desire to exceed as a thought leader and participate in industry thought leadership events
